Found some old pics of vet pick ups from the 80's I never advertised ,but was able to make a few good snags. The first one was from a vets sister
she said the helmets and gear was stored in the garage and the Herman Meyer hats were stored in the Attic. There were two types of HG hats with screened vents and the others with just the grommet style. The screened vent ones had the insignia sewn on block style. The grommet style had the insignia folded and sewn. Also I can't remember which , but one type was RBN numbered and I can't remember how the other style was marked.

Here is another group that I bought from a veteran named Fabulous Sam Rosenberg He was an MP and was not embarrassed to tell me he looted his way accross Europe during the war. His real name was Fabulous he had changed it and he showed me his drivers license. All the badges were late war Zinc types. They looked like they were taken from a store. They had postage stamp type stickers on them with a price. Most of it was pretty minty and stored in a Suitcase. He said he made his money stealing or aquiring vehicles and selling them to Officers during the war. He later became a used car dealer in the States and changed his first name to Fabulous. Go figure. The best part of the deal was that I originaly met him at his girlfriends house, but I didn't have all the money he wanted for the transaction. He set the price which was about a quarter of the value. He told me he kwew the stuff was worth a lot more but didn't care. He just wanted X amount of dollars out of it. He further told me that I was going to have to give him whatever I had in pocket to show good faith , until I came up with rest of the loot the following day. I bit into the deal and forked over a sizable amount of money for that time. On my way home I started to think about what a lame dope I was, and I probably just got fleeced by a Guy named Fabulous. The meeting place for the deal was the Vince Lombardi Rest Stop on the New Jersey Turnpike the next night.
I went to the Turnpike Rest area the next night fully expecting to get screwed. Low and behold there was Fabulous Sam snacking on a chicken
dinner at one of the tables in the Diner there. We made the deal about a half hour later like two drug dealers in the dimmly lit parking lot which was notorious for prostitutes and a few drug deals also. As you can see it was quite a haul. Nothing super rare but all 100% real.

I have one question, what do you think were the boots in the first pic used for ?
I sometimes came across similar ones here in Germany. I ever wondered if they are ww2 or east German DDR period.
Some guys say they are Concentration camp issue boots, but i never believed that.

Nice stuff!!! Funny- I've taken down some drug deals and lot lizards in the Pikes service areas. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall and watch that one go down with Fab Rosenberg LOL

I really don't think they are DDR although they could have been carried over to that period. I was never sure what they were, but the whole buy was WW2 . I thought maybe not concentration camp but maybe POW or
conscripted labor.
