    Thanks all!

Shane:most of my cases came from the Bluegrass case company, but some are from Ebay. For a 18"x24"x3" case expect to pay $45-50.I started with silk linings, but have switched to satin, less than $3 for a yard of it,enough to do several cases.

      Wow Again

I am pretty sure that I just shorted out the computer from the drool. Unreal that you have done all of this in so short an amount of time. Do you print your own money? Ha! Anyway, great collection of daggers and other goodies. Thanks for sharing.

        Rich,
One of the most impressive rooms I've seen. Even tho I don't collect the same type things as you, I really enjoy looking at your collection & how you have displayed it I once read in a book that "you don't have to own something to appreciate it".

Sorry about that I had to clean up my mouse, drooled all over it, after that had to rush right away and register on the daggers forum. Beautiful collection , I only have an Eickhorn Heer dagger, and a Yugoslav K98 bayonet.a couple of questions though, what do you put under the satin as a cushion, and you mentioned a Generals hanger, were they differnet for feild ranks and genral ranks?

            Thanks
            Laurence

Sorry for the delayed response Laurence. The cases all come with a type of foam inside,to cushion and support the items displayed. Some Gerneral's daggers and hangers had a type of gold gilding on the metal parts.

Hi Rich. If nothing else this forum is teaching me the art of patience, some thing thats in short supply with me. So if I understand correctly not all General daggers would have been gilded?

I suspect that gilding would have been an added cost to the dagger, and since most Generals probably already had a dagger before they were promoted to the rank of General, most would have not opted to have them gilded.

Hi Rich That would make sense, every thing cost money wether its today money or yyesterday. Wonder what a new dagger would have cost back then and how that would equate to todays $

My WKC cat. lists a standard Heer dolce as 11.5 Rich Marks, not sure what that is in U.S. dollars, but I know I pay from $300 to $1000 for a standard one now!

What is WKC? I assume its an old catalouge from back when?

WKC is Weyersberg,Kirschbaum, and Cie(company),a firm that made many edged weapons before and during WW2.They,and most other large companies, issued sales catelogs to stimulate sales. My WKC cat is a repro, real ones cost too much for me,the real daggers take most of my money!!

I can understand wanting to put your money where it will do the most good, I only have an midprodution Eickhorn from what I can fiqure out from the logo on the blade, and a Yugo K98 Bayonet. Where can you buy these catalouges?

Got mine on Ebay, but some of the bigger dealers sites(like Tom Johnson,Bill Shea,or Tom Wittmann)might also have them. They make great references.Did see a real Eickhorn one at a show, but wasn;t going to pay the $500+ asking price!

Thanks. I know I paid to much for mine, but over the years I passed up on a few, because of family etc. So with the nest empty I jumped on it without thinking. Oh well thats OK
