PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS.

You know, there has been many times where I have just thought to myself, give up. I am talking about collecting WWII German awards. There is just so much information to learn, and just when you think you have it down you go and get sucked into buying a reproduction. I have been taken time and time again and before I found this forum I thought it was hopeless. Not only have I learned so much, but I have been engulfed in a community of great members. I have met so many great people who obviously have the same passion as I when it comes to the history of these rare items.

One member in particular that I met through this forum is John Ammons. I had dealt with him in the past on a few things purchased through the e-stand and had been very pleased. One day, I just thought to e-mail him and ask if he had anything extra sitting around. Sure enough, John had a document/medal grouping that was awarded to Wilhelm Cremer, which happens to be my name, William Kramer.

The grouping cost $300.00 for three documents and the two medals (one document was a hospital issue for the wound badge) I explained to John that
John agreed as we had dealt in the past and knew he could trust me. I put the down-payment on the grouping immediately. Well, sure enough, summer school came around and I was stuck with the huge bill. I was getting A’s in my courses, but I still was having some financial trouble. I explained this to John and kept in contact with him throughout the entire summer.

John not only gave me an extension on my payment, but he also knocked off $50.00 from the total price owed. What a nice thing to do! That e-mail was such a relief to me and really did make my day. So, when I finally got the money saved up to pay off the balance I went ahead and did so via paypal.com – John shipped my items USPS PRIORITY mail with full insurance and delivery confirmation.

The grouping was just better than ever in person and then I got a free gift as well. John included a metal eagle (size of a boxcar eagle) for free (surely a reproduction, but it is the thought that counts.)

I just wanted to share this grouping with all of you and to let you know what a standup guy John Ammons really is. It is people like this within this collector community that keep me involved with this great hobby. If it weren’t for people like this, I don’t know where I would be right now. So thank you to this forum, and especially John Ammons.

    William Kramer

"I was a Junior at Western Illinois University and that I was paying for things on my own at the current date. I told him that I really wanted to own the grouping as I felt an interesting connection with the grouping, basically, it was just cool that I found it, and if I passed it up I knew I would regret it.

The only problem was, I did not have the $300.00 to pay for the grouping. I proposed that I pay monthly on the group, at $100.00 per month."

William I understand that you are a student, and for that reason don't have to spend a lot of money.
When I was a student, collecting almost stopped for some time.
What John did was just a great and nice gesture, and made it possible for you to buy his group.

One know there is some nice material around on the market, and also on the WAF e-stand, but one can not buy all one likes.

After reading your story I was happy for you that you were able to buy a group so close related to your own name, and how John helped you with your student financial situation to buy a $ 300 document group.

I know it isn't my business, but what I do not understand after reading another reply from you on the e-stand.......22/9/2005 is buying a Pilot badge for $260, or there is just a longer period between the two purchases.

Don't see this as a negative response, whish you all the best further on with your collecting, just great to have a group with a name so close to your own name.

    all the best

      Hello

      Hello again all,

To answer your question, I promised a man that I would find him a cheap pilot badge. He does not have a WA-forum account so I put the badge on hold myself. I did not purcahse that badge, but the badge has been paid for. The man wanted a cheap one to display with a leather flight helmet.

You can read about the story here:

I just simply helped a guy out. As like this thread shows, favors are what it is all about.

        Hi William,

Never visited that site before, didn't know the story / background, red your posting there, and I can only say: just great to help another person, as I do too where ever I can.

        yours
