    Exam present

Well... it's a little late, but I got a very nice present from my parents for my good exam results here in England. I was pleasently surprised at what it was, but (my dad lol) they find these little treasures from time to time.
It's an indirect veteran aquisition from a local man who took this dagger off the original owner, POW, at the war's end, which makes this even more special to me. A lovely Kriegsmarine Offizier's Dagen (Eickhorn). The medals are in the photo are just to add a little flavour to the pic .

    Cheers Dad!

Ade: Yes I know.. I just did a quick look-a-like knot for the photo of the "Kriegsknott"? There is a thread I recall seeing about it, will find it, thanks for the good wishes.

Steve: My dad has the other Dagger that came with the lot, a "Hoester" maker, exactly the same. We conflict at times as to who gets what, but, for the most part, I do the German side of things When he's not buying RAF clocks and Antiques, he collects British Cap badges and other nick nacks.

        Cheers.

                  navy dagger

Very nice, I know a veteran in my home town with a similar dagger. He won't part with it for now!! Guess I'll keep trying.

Very nice Tom I have had quite a few of these navy daggers in the past of which most were from Canadian Vets who held some major German naval bases at wars end.

I found one last year from a British fellow who's father brought it back from Europe while serving with the Canadians.

Most of the Vet bring back stuff I have found were from occupation forces and not the front line combat soldiers who just wanted to go home.

Thanks everybody. Glenn, I agree! Funny how these things have their ways of irony.

                      Best wishes to you all,
