While the vast majority of my collection is WWII, A couple of my most-prized pieces are from far earlier; The Civil War & Indian Wars.
Purchased last year at an antique store, the first firearm that I have ever owned is this Colt Model 1860 .44 cal revolver. It is a non-numbers matching, "US" marked gun that was refurbished by the Springfield Armory post-war and issued for use during the Indian Wars. Most went to the 9th & 10th Cavalry- the famed "Buffalo Soldiers" African American troops.
Shown in the second picture with the Colt is a non-regulation holster (very possibly Confederate), an officers M1874 belt buckle, and an enlisted M1874 Cavalry cap insignia.
My second revolver is a Remington New Model Army .44 cal. This one was made in late 1864-early 1865, and is completely numbers-matching & heavily inspector-marked. Unfortunately it has been reblued, but it is still quite fireable and one of favorites.
I hope you enjoy seeing something a little different. Now, let's see some of your pre-World War I items, both American & International!
