Apparently, a paper insignia for an armoured regiment used to be glued here. This is not 100% certain, and info is wanted.

Ciarocchi's serial number. Note the helmet has been period repainted. Ciarrocchi was still alive when I last contacted him a few months ago.

US camo helmet found in Peira Cava, southern France. It has the unit insignia of the 65th Infantry Division engraved in the paint. The 65th was composed of Porto Rican volunteers.

RCAF ring worn by John Bawden, navigator of a british two seater reconaissance plane shot down over Normandy. He gave the ring to a local teenage girl he had a bit of an affaire with before the underground got him back to England.

French colonial troops helmet found around Grenoble. I suspect it was owned by a person who landed in southern France, and participated in the rush up to northen France.

A british made flack jacket used by a Bosnian soldier in Sarajevo, who had himslef taken from the body of a killed serb. The serb was apparently shot in the armpit. The jacked saved its new owner from wounds twice.

The owner told me he was hit by an AK 47 round here. I dont know the distance or the angle. Normaly, an AK bullet should have pierced the jacket (depending on the distance and angle parameters of course).

I forgot to post these items of my grandfather, who was with the French troops sent to Lebanon in 1939.
Note the cool checkerboard. It could almsot be DAK!

"Fantastic helmet! Good stuff but when I saw that modified helmet...whew! Worthy of publication."
Indeed, it is suposed to be published in a book on US helmet that one of our forum members, CCmax, is preparing.

Here is something that isnt militaria, but interesting anyways.
A couple of summers ago, I was working in a local morgue, and one day, 2 bodies were brought in, a husband and wife. The husband had shot his wife in the neck with a 22, and then shot himself under the chin.
They were autopsied, ect, and a few days latter, when a funeral home came to put the bodies in a coffin, one of my work colleagues found this 22 bullet beside the body of the husband. He was going to throw it out, but asked me if I wanted it, knowing I collected militaria. So I kept it, and made a grouping, with a newspaper article about the event, and the markers that were placed on the fridges the two bodies were kept in.
Yes, I know, I am just a bit on the morbid side
