Nice flight helmet. Judging by the location of the intakes, the jet appears to be an F-102 Delta Dagger (the F-106 intakes are further back). If you ever decide to sell it, I'd like to know!

Thanks Gene I thought it was a great find also ! Also a big thanks for info on aircraft. I beleive this guy could be easy to find with a name like Gunby flying F-102. I have just started the process if any one could offer any advice I am all ears. Thanks again Gene I will keep you in mind however I believe this one will stay put.

The insignia on the side is probably a squadron design, it should be easy to track down the squadron. If you have a couple of hours, try:

                    http://www.usafpatches.com/gallery.shtml

Actually, somewhere out there is a great chart showing squadron patches for all the F-102 air defense squadrons....but I lost it when my computer died

I knew that emblem looked familiar. Back when I was a Phanton Phixer I met many guys from Moody AFB, and they had three fighter squadrons, the 68th, 69th and 70th. Cool helmet for sure! Too bad that site didn't list aircraft asigned to the units; it still looks like an F-102 to me.

Thanks very much I am glad to give him a good home. I just did some more reading . This squad. Has a ww2 start and the 68th was one of the only F-102 Squadrons to serve in Vietnam if I am reading it all correctly. I must tell all of you how much I appreciate all the help. This is why I enjoy all these items so much, is all the living history contained in one musty old helmet . He speakes volumns. Take care all
