It would remove the contrast between the uniform and the mannequin .

                      Hi to All!

...Better with painted face of course! I would be the last to say otherwise...

That one was originally a nice Hans Boodt mannequin with good face and factory spray make-up perfect for fashion shop display but always a little bit too "pretty" for our soldiers...here it is after customize painting for a 1st US Rangers as they were when they landed on the Dieppe beaches the 19th of august 1942 (the first American soldiers of WWII engaged to the European theatre - 50 US Rangers - and by the way, the first American soldiers KIA and prisoners in western Europe)

                      Hope you will like it!

                      Best to All,
                      Thierry

                      ...before,

                      & after painting.

                      ...dressed...

Original period pic taken during the raid on Dieppe of members of the 1st bat. of US Rangers with very specific uniforms: 1st model HBT overall & long sleeves tee shirt, US17 helmets with Canadian two colours net, British cap comforter, Type II US army red-brown boots, WWI & before WWII US webbing set, Royal Navy blue life belt, US 30 Caliber machine gun, etc...)

& uniforms on mannequin with kit! (missing the 30 cal mg)

A very nice uniform set and painting job for this US Ranger.
i would fill a little bit more the backpack to make it look less "flat", and maybe his shoes are too "clean" comparing his tired face after fighting.
But it is just a mater of taste, as it is realy a great display as it is.
                              Je "pinaille"...

Hi Frederik, Lou, Phil & Derka

Thanks very much for your comments

Perfectly true Derka, shoes are too clean to match with the rest but I was looking for a while for a dated pair (these one are 1941 dated) in a good size for mannequin (size 10) and in vgc and I recently found these ones which are superb and almost unused...i'll tarnish them artificially for the exhibition...as I'll fill the bag!

                                Best to All!
                                Thierry
