Uniforms on mannequins with kit

Nanook welcome to the Forum. Yep they need heads (Dan46 sells them), and yes your'e Wife will be more creeped out, as I know 2 mannequins is not enough! Mate you need to softening her up as you know down the road you will need the spare room in the house as your'e "War Room" if that is not possible (ie; Kids on the way) then a nice Bunker cubby house in the back yard

Thanks for the welcome Lou. Are you sure we haven't met before as you pegged my situation spot on! I have plans for at least another two mannequins after I complete the Luftwaffe uniform and trying hard to move into the large downstairs room. Unfortunately the young fella is living there at the moment but he's old enough to be moving on as my computer room just isn't big enough with these two plus the display cabinets.

I would personally worry more about having a pic of the guy with that trimmed moustache on the wall in the house than a couple of mannequins.

That's a fair enough comment, but he is only there as a part of a historical collection and certainly not as an object of admiration. That portrait normally doesn't hang on the wall and will be taken down from there once my next flag arrives. Trust me, the wife hates that picture more than the mannequins!

World War One

Hi everyone!
I just love this thread. I can't tell you how many hours I have spent looking through it! There are some amazing collections out there! To me this is what it's all about - putting all the little things together into a detailed impression of what the soldiers actually looked like with all that gear on... and with the enormous amount of time it takes to assemble all the little pieces, both rare and more common, it is such a great feeling to finally set it all up when completed!
I thought some photos from the First World War would be welcomed... These German infantrymen are as complete as I am likely to get them, and all set up ready for display! Yes, I still need a pair of period trousers, but I am more interested at this point in investing in a M1907 tunic to create the missing soldier impression of how they would have looked in 1914/15. Let me know if you have an extra one hanging in your closet, and are thinking of selling! He he he he he, yeah, I know...
I will add some photos of the Canadian soldier on the other side of No Man's Land when I get a chance...

Wearing the Mantel - Infanterie Regiment 102. Just issued a new Stahlhelm. Late 1916 period.

A Luftwaffe mechanic cleaning the contacts of a Durchladeschaltkasten of the MG 131. He wears one of the rarer south front tan coveralls. Note that even the cleaning cloth is genuine and has the FLUV stamping on it. Sweater is of Italian origin, screwdriver is also pre-1945.
