Tommy, In NewZealand, if we have the correct licence we can own fully automatic weapons, its a very hard licence to get might I add,

YES PLEASE!
You must remember I only have a handheld 8meg Fuji Fine-Pix, and I only wanted two, maybe three good photos for an article...I overdid it a bit!

is there any proof that MG42s were used in the desert? I ask, because we are planing a FJ exibition, and had had the discussion on the FJ-forum here already, if they were used in africa. If yes, from wich battle / date on? (a "yes" would be better for us, as we "only" have some 42s, no 34s..).

Hi Patrick,
A big YES.
Major Otto Burckhardt's battalion (south of Ramcke's positions at Alamein & attached to the Folgore Division) was well equiped with new & 'experimental' weapons - including the mg42.
