I haven’t had a chance to cleanup yet, but I went with some paint, crown molding, baseboards, and a chair rail. It looks very mid century so far. Will post better pics after I clean!

I know you said you could not change the flooring but it does look kinda modern, if you don't want to lift the flooring you could cover it with a dark wood effect vinyl flooring which is only a couple of mil thick, just an idea.

Your room is looking very good and the floor looks fine, helps keep the room from getting to dark. The chair rail is a
nice addition, one often see's it used as separation point between two colors...its different but looks good.
Your room has a nice feel to it, not cluttered but rather organized...mine on the other hand kind of looks mid century flee market.
