    Hi Guy

This one looks right to me, but I'm often wrong..

    I don't see a RZM number?

I'm fairly green in the subject but doesn't the Z in RZM need a hash mark through the diagonal??

Hello, it looks ok from front but the back has a blob of material on right wing. Im not sure what that is. Also i dont see a number for rzm mark but sometimes they are hard to see. Dont give up on it just yet. Vince

        Hi Henrik,

No expert so wait for other opinions but to me, your bird looks very "ruff" (poor detail, uneven back surface & detail, odd pins/attachement) even for a late zinker and more like a casting than an original. Attached is a picture of the most commonly encountered specimens of this bird made of cupal, aluminum and zink respectively by different makers for you to compare

        Personally I would pass

Thank you all. Seller says it's marked 16 or 76, does that help?

Could it be the same as this one. I do see it's not quite the same...

If its cheap get it but for 50$ you can find really nice examples of these eagles with no issues. Imo

I have one like it. Same materials and finish. Late SA coffee can hat eagle. The "Z" in RZM can both have the cross mark or not in originals, so that's not a problem. The M1 number is probably under the left prong.

Yes it could be "derived" from the same bird but IMO, the one you post here is a nice original eagle in aluminum with crimped hardware (pins). Notice the back is flat with an even edge/ridge and the back detail is as good as the front as you would expect from a die stamped piece produced with a male/female die set

M 1/76 is possible (I dont have one to compare) and I appreciate that dies get worn over time changing the detail and that the metal is different here (zink vs aluminum) but the detail of the OP eagle doesnt coincide with the M 1/16 design I am familiar with. Interesting to note the lack of horizontal bar on the "Z" of the RZM logo of M1/16 bird & wreath as well...

It looks rough, but I don't collect these so how much is accepted? It does have traces of a silver wash on the front.

Condition is an issue. I would pay not more than US$35

Well, that's what I paid Right on the money.

So it's an original? Condition I can live with, a fake I can not...

                              Regards Henrik
