Long time since I have posted, took a break from collecting but this recent purchase has regenerated my interest. Also something a little different for study and maybe time to revisit on the forum as new members may not have come across one before

Reverse photo and close up of the enamel which shows the dark blue to be translucent when compared to the other enamels

Some common repros, note the very smooth finish on the "enamel" compared to period enamel third reich badges which when looked at very close have small pinpirck defects to the surface

That is a really nice one and in complete condition too,unlike my example that i still have, but is missing the pin and backplate.

One of my favorite kriegsmarine collection items. Anyone notice the similarities between this pin and the one for the 11th u-boat flotilla in Bergen? Flotilla commander was the same officer for both flotillas. Coincidence?

I can't find an original 11. U-Boots-Flottille pin for comparison but here's a reproduction from e-Bay. I guess there are some basic similarities in materials and design, if not content, although the 12th and 14th were also enamelled shields? Do you have an original for comparison?
