    Hi Gyus,
I have just noticed in latest KW update this bullion u-boat badge, it is described as 'officer's variant' and priced at 1450 eur... I wonder what do you think of it since to my eye the material and production technique very much resambles fakes commonly seen on other auction sites, some of them I posted above in this thread.
    Cheers,
    Hubert

I can't imagine anyone wearing that eagle and feeling proud about it...

          Hi Hubert,

Well, I guess if one can't be definitively proven wrong, given a choice between asking 5 Euro for a fake or 1450 Euro for a "rare original", there's nothing to lose by asking 1450 Euro and hoping for a buyer with faith.

Having said that I'm not a fan of that shape of the eagle's head, the eyeball in its neck and the overly ornate wreath. Aesthetically it reminds of this bullion eagle said to be from "Delta International" in the 1970's. We'll have to keep an eye out for any evidence on one side or the other.

          Best regards,
          ---Norm

I live close to Dave and I have seen these fake uboats at the local UK fairs, there is also a HSF one that at least 3 or 4 of the dealers all have as well.
The KW is pretty bad. 1450 euros

Just out of curiosity has anyone ever seen any navy sub men wearing bullion sub badges....seems to me the navy and sub service went with more yellow thread type embroidered emblems than bullion as one would assume bullion emblems would certainly oxidize too quickly with the pest, unless you served in an office type environment. (example: wreaths on hats )

                Hi juoneen,

As far as I know we have not yet seen a photo of a bullion U-Boat in wear. I have seen a photo of the machine embroidered badge in wear which I believe came from an acquaintance of Gordon Williamson but unfortunately I haven't permission to post it. That's not very satisfactory I know but for what it's worth in my opinion it was the same type of patch previously discussed in this thread:
                http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=644225

It would be great to find photos of bullion versions in wear, and necessary to elevate them from the status of conjecture.

                Best regards,
                ---Norm

This Destroyer appears to come from the same line of fake bullion badges.

Interesting thread. Is anyone able to post any original, accepted, KM bullion badges?

In the absence of clear period photos in wear, the closest we have to “accepted” are here:
