    Spanish Cross next of kin

Here is a Spanish Cross NOK that has just been listed for sale. IMO it's a fake. That's the second such cross in a few months to be offered as originals on well known dealers sites. A worrying trend.

    I would like your opinion.

I can't find it to be a match to the accepted originals that have been posted on this Forum before.
And it seems kind of rough in appereance also.

This cross is selling for $3925. Below is the thread to the other cross which is still for sale at $4750.

I have bought many good items from both these dealers in the past and will again however if ever there was a good example of buyer beware and do your homework, this is it.

That is a style I wouldn't touch- these are often listed as original as Detlev showed one in his price guide but the quality is way lacking from the textbook accepted type.

Here is my piece with solid swas. As you will see, the stippled areas of the cross should be much smoother.

I don't like it as well. IMO it is a crude fake.

                  AB,
I don't know if this represents a trend as far as a new faker cranking these out right now. I think this type of fake has been around for a while and over the years I have seen it in more than one "high end" collection. I think what we may be seeing in stead is that with bad economies some folks are reaching into their collections and trading or selling their more expensive but less "glamorous" , for lack of a better term, pieces. But even in some of the the best collections there may be some dogs and these crosses certainly bark.

I like the Spanish Cross, but especially the "Next of Kin".

Stan that's a really nice example. The other looks like rubbish compared to it.

Thanks JAndrew for your spin on this but its not the high end seller that concerns me so much but the high end dealers who buy these items and then sell them for a profit. I have no problem in that per say..... except that these items are fake!

IMO not an original cross. Too sloppy made. Nothing to give to someone who lost her husband or child.
