Luftwaffe Knights Cross Grouping ....

Hello gentlemen,

My apologies to have kept you waiting here .

With huge thanks to another forum member - who pointed me towards the group - I was just in the nick of time to purchase it .

The only downside of this group is that the veterans name is unknown . Have already done some research and several matches were found.
Unfortunately, info found on-line is currently not sufficient to link the group to an exact name .... but maybe soon.

Should any of you have further info or can pinpoint me into the right direction, would be highly appreciated

In the meantime, I thoroughly enjoy the group and the individual pieces

It all starts with this cigar box ......

First up is the Knights Cross which has a special twist to it

Facts ... St&L made ... 1st pattern ( magnetic ) core .... "C" frame .... marked "800".
Comes with solid length of 1957 issue KC ribbon and the early pattern domed case .

What I like about this particular KC is the personal modification.
The veteran drilled two holes into the core and glued ( or tied ) handmade swastika pieces to it .
The two smaller swastika bits were glued onto the EK1 and EK2. One could call it damage, but I'd prefer the word "personalized".

Although my guess is that he also received the DKiG, its not present in the group.
Besides a lovely range of clasps, Pilot Badge and wound badges ( still to follow ), he also received the EK1 and EK2.

The EK1 is a lovely lightweight example holding both St&L + Souval parts.

The EK2 is an early St&L piece, however no "4" mark to be found in the ring ...

According to the full set of wound badges he must have suffered up in the air during his "600" flights ....

All three wound badges in the group are the earliest possible made by St&L ...

On to the Luftwaffe awards ... starting with this early St&L Pilot badge ( clearly worn with the eagle a bit loose on the wreath )

And then comes the full range of "Aufklärer Frontspange" ... bronze, silver, gold + pendants for "200" / "400" / "500" / "600" flights.
