1870 type A EK2 with 25 year oaks

Hello all...

I had asked for opinions on this cross before I purchased it and it didn't get any bad comments, see:

It finally arrived yesterday and I have to say that I love it! It has an almost black patina which is very pleasing.
The oaks are something I have not encountered in person before and I have very limited knowledge of them, so hopefully some of you guys will know for sure if they are good or not. Sadly, one of the prongs has it's end broken off, and I don't want to go interfering with them in case I cannot re-attach them.
Is it possible to determine if they are good by looking only at the front?

Any comments or opinions be they good or bad are gratefully received.
