Ok got teh cape today in hand there are absolutely NO problems,AND ITS NAMED!!also believe the cape was shortened in the period, the thread is old german thread and you can just tell.Id also think the officer had a flair to him, choosing teh velvet collar and having it shortened,Which was teh officer's choice I found out.The clasps were never moved on this thing so any thoughts about them being replaced is unfounded, how do I know??The round part inside where it attaches is tight and makes an impressment in teh wool and liner,if there was one on it before it would show. And also teh prongs have been bent ONCE,no way they were bent more than that, ill post closeups of that later.Check out teh embroidery on that eagle too its amazing,Im having a member here make a swastika by hand to fit it embroidered until I can afford to replace it.
But here is the named label,it is stitched at the top only so you can filp it over to see teh name..,I believ it says "Obersturmbannfuhrer DRAPE" or "Oberscharfurer Drake"teh date is labeld 1940,there was a Drape, Rudolf SS-Nr.289244 SS-Staf.01.01.1940 if he was an Obersturmbannfuhrer in 38,its possible this is the same guy as his rank was Standartenfuhrer in 40'.What do u think is Drape a common name?heres pics.Oh the stitching you see through the front of label is where the name tag is sewn connecting it to the back.
Does it say Obersturmbannfuhrer abbreviated?which seems mmore likely, but a rich Oberscharfuhrer could have had a cape too.The name is definately Drape.
