I also agree with the podium comments. I think there was one example out there that was accepted that had the podium make contact with the edge, but I have my doubts. Almost every bad fake I have seen has had this characteristic and since it was the last of the flower medals (all with identical obverses) you would think it would show up often in the Austrian or Czech medals as well.
There is no quality at all to the example in question. The eagle and the left foot of both men are mssing chunks, the area between the 2 men is a mess with undefined edges all over the place, and I think the guy with the chain on his arm looks a little too much like Lenin to be on a TR award.
Does anyone have anything favourable to say about this medal?

Hi everybody,
"Fact is the was not original Memelland medallie"
"Been discussed many times, do a search of the memel"
"Polemic topic!!!!! I dont like this Memel (wrong: m, Ä, 9...)."
Does somebody have primary sources which prove, that this medal is a fake?
Can anybody show me primary sources with pictures of the privileged medal, that medal with the special form of the M, the G, the Ä and the 9?
Regards
Uwe

You will note after careful examination of the scan that the medal I have illustrated is the 'crooked G' type. As far as I am concerned, this is the final word on these. I cannot guarantee that other types are not original but it is also worth bearing in mind that as only 31,000 were awarded, isn't it odd that the one from the 1943 book is the more rare version - not the one that you see quite commonly?Attached Files
