the whole embroidery on the sleeve eagle and the skull tab is wrong, just compare the embroidery to original examples. Then you see also what quality means.

Jpic, I would not want any of these eagles. They are just not on par with originals. Sterile, lacking the quality touch of war time skilled embroiderers. We know that unterlagens has been used on fakes quite many years now. I think it is important to compare with known patterns and this is where the difference is.

In reference to the Totenkopf officer's tab pic in post #15: "I don't like it."

RKC, I understand why you are not pleased, but as Felix said above, SS forum is brutal. But is has to be due to the level of the problem of fakes.

I want to point out that, in actuality, this threads' postings are rather polite and benign when compared to many other threads on this SS forum.

            Tab

The original question that started the thread, was "What is your opinion on this TK tab?" The first six replies, all by knowledgable members, had the same unambiguous opinion that it sucked. Had the members all said it was an obvious original, their opinions wouldn't have been questioned, and the sun would still be shining. Alas, it ISN'T an original, so the replies are now "UNINTELLIGENT". I am far from an SS cloth expert, but I noticed immediately that it didn't look right. That's why I said, "I don't like it." And six red-flags in a row suggests you're headed in the wrong direction.

sorry but tab and first eagle are fakes: easy to recognize.
the second eagle is also bad but could fool.

That's because it's an original example and not part of the subject insignia group.

Yes, I can see a big quality difference. If it was on e-stand it must have sold because I can't find it there; I know it was in this thread for comparison's sake.

                        Felix/Guys:

Thanks for the time you put into those pieces. When they were picked-up in the 80's & 90's they weren't a lot of money as they are now-a-days & dealing with the various guys then, you looked the piece over & if you liked it you made the trade or bought it.

I just felt there were nonchalant views given & not anything that pointed to the actual differences that stand out between the good piece & bad piece & with that impression I just lashed out at "what I perceived" to be laziness from you guys.

I'm sorry it worked out that way.

                          Ron,
Perhaps you can take the time to show us why they are real. I remain totally open minded and look forward to what you have to say.
