        Hi,

No, this one appears to be nickel silver/tombak, so it's an earlier one - not a later-war zincer.

Mark, a nice worn example! No problems

I agree with Mike, not the late war one. I have developed a new theory as to who the maker might be. It is a good lead although there are still some open questions. Can anybody guess it? (Not GWL!)

              Hi Frank,

i totally agree with "ealier one of the unknown maker" - but: Who could it be ..... ? P l e a s e, tell us about the theorie.

Sometimes I think it could be Osang.

              Kind Regards

                  Hi Frank,

                  Can't wait!

Up front, I won't believe Osang (they seem to have been into sourcing badges from other makers) but I will believe another Ludenscheid manufacturer. The chunky catch on the later "unknown maker" zincers seems to be common to some other Ludenscheid manufacturers - FLL CCCs jump straight to mind.

                  Regards

Can't wait to hear about your theory Frank. To be absolutely sure you need to be able to link this maker to the use of both aluminium and Cupal. Is that the case?

Well, it is just a theory, a lead as I said. Nothing to be written in stone. But I thought I would mention it, maybe somebody has more evidence in that direction.

Mike the old fox got it! I strongly assume it is Friedrich Linden in Lüdenscheid (FLL). The CCCs come to mind, but also this FLL GAB, featuring the same catch and a hinge like some of the unknown maker badges. We do have some hinge and catch variations on the unknown maker badges, but that is the same for FLL marked badges. Maybe we can collect unknown maker and FLL hinge and catch veriations in this thread to come to a better conclusion.

                      First, the obvious:

                      1) unknown maker zinc badge
