Oberführer tabs - two acorns versus three

I picked up a set of Oberführer tabs which are either SA (Berlin/Brandenburg) or NSKK. My question is how one might ascertain which group such tabs might be for. The base material is wool badge cloth versus velvet so, these would not be SS. I’m not but if there is a way to tell but I would like to hear views.

    GENERALLY:
This pattern tab was prevalent from 1933 through April 1942 but variants of this configuration (from what I’ve read and researched) started in the 20s. Looking at the acorns, they have a ‘loop’ of sorts at the end which makes one immediately think of the classic style gull of the Luftwaffe tab with its ‘loop’ at the base of the gull. I don’t recall ever seeing this feature on a an oakleaf tab having acorns and, where I love the interesting & unique, I found the feature intriguing and compelling.

Needless to say, they don’t, remotely, react to UV and, looking sideways at the tab’s embroidery, I can clearly see the unterlagen template beneath the aluminum wire as one would expect.

      INTERESTING ACORNS:
Some might have issue with the two acorn configuration but, with the variations in these early tabs, prevalent at the time, I don’t. David Fuller’s book Collector’s Guide to Sturmabteilung Insignia has an early 1920s Oberführer tab without any acorns at all on page 22, while other examples have three or more acorns. Diane (Brandenburg Historica) was kind enough to take look at the subject tabs in-hand and had no doubts they’re authentic. She also sent along some photos of a two acorn tab set (SA Group Sachsen) in this rank, belonging to another collector.

Here's the tab Diane showed me having only two acorns as well as a shot of an unidentified guy who's tabs 'appear' to have only two acorns.

Hoping for some similar tab images with the two acorn config.

        Thanx, Rick

The quality looks authentic, but I never saw these style collar tabs on period pictures on SA-Führern. So I guess it must be NSKK.

Thanx for the response Laurens. I too feel the manufacturing quality is difficult to argue with.

I would be very interested in seeing similar early tabs having the two acorn variant if the members have any examples.

Still, not a clue as to if the SA or the NSKK wore these but, in the final analysis, I suppose it doesn't really matter.

Please excuse my ignorance but why would SS tabs for an Oberführer have to be on velvet?
