              Very Nice Ran!

Lots of ribbon and enamel left on that one

I love Mothers crosses :x I have a Bronze, Silver (on the way from Detlev, its taking its sweet time) but no gold yet. I'm waiting for just the right cross and case to pop up for me.

                Hi Greg,

I'm waiting for my second mother's cross in gold with case and documents
( which was ordered before this one ). Also waiting for my bronze.

But I haven't found a nice silver one. From what I've seen in the images :
if the quality is very good the silver should be the nicest

Anyway, I've seen quite a few mother's crosses in gold with cases in good
condition so it's worth the wait, you'll surely find a nice one.

                  Ran,

I'll be sure the send you a pic of my silver when it arrives.

Did you ever find anyone with a silver in a case, I remember one gentlemen stated he had one in his collection?

                  Greg

                    Hello Ran,

A nice Mothers Cross there you have there, and the case

Not sure about the War Merit Medal as being 'early' though, what gave you that impression ? I woldn't have thought so, but best let the more conversed speak on that........George !!!!????

Never the less, it's a good start and they look both good. I'm very pleased with your case, a nice example you have there. Very nice

                    Take care,

                    Marcus

@ Greg : It was me talking about the cased silver mother's cross. I actualy
asked if someone has one to sell in the wanted forum and then posted here
                          again.
From what I understand from the books there were some cased silver mother's
crosses but not so much. The only difference is that the cross on the
case is in silver. Except one who said that he think he saw one - everybody
else said they don't think they exsist.

@ Marcus : thanks for brining that up. Since I'm still a begginer I guess I
sometimes don't understand things, so hopefuly now I'll learn :
I thought that orange ( instead of red ) is awards that were early made ( like
                          kvk's and EK2's . . . ).

                          So two questions :
                          1) Why some ribbons are in orange instead of red ?
                          2) How can I know which medal is early made and which is not ?

                          Thanks,

                          Ran

The general consensus here is that different manufatures with different dies caused different colored ribbons, at least thats the way I have read the posts. If you search them you will find a couple different threads that have run over the last 6 months

As for the other ?, I am awaiting Gordons book on the KVK

PS Idont think the silver looks anywhere as nice as a minty gold

Thanks, my plan was to get everything in both red and orange ( 2 kvm, 4 kvk2,
2 EK2 ), I always thought the reason is that they were early made but I guess
there is no real reason except that this is what the guys who made it use.

I still don't have a silver mother's cross and it's hard to find one with packet
( with case I didn't see ) but I saw a minty one in image and it blew me away.
