BTW --- I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with being careful. I feel much better now that some more experienced collectors have taken a thorough look at it.

It's a very emotional thing (as we have seen once again in this discussion)

Good thing that there is apparently a happy ending this time. This Schirmmütze will probably become part of my collection.

But now that we have settled the question whether or not it is redyed/original --- can somebody tell me if it looks more like Jäger, Official or Gebirgsjäger? (I am fully aware that this will also provoce emotional responses; please give me your opinion anyway...)!
