Hi Guys !
First, let me wish you all Guys an healthy new Year 2019, with hopefully new additions for your ID collection throughout the year !
Want to share here one of my latest acquisition. Bernhard ZYBON served by "GD" from January 1941 until april 1943. For unclear reason, he went back to the civilian Life in April 43 and served by the Reichsbahn til september 1944. THis experienced officer was then again called for Duty and took command from Ist Btl./Volks-Gren.Rgt.953 (361.VGD) actually rebuilt at the military training center of WAHN by Köln. Transferred to the westfront, he was taken prisoner during the fightings on the Hill 510 (côte du mont Saint-Jean) in the visinity of the village MOYENVIC mainly against US Troops from 26th "Yankee" Division.
Beside the local interest for myself (I have 30minutes to drive to be in Moyenvic), and the attribution of the german Cross on 17.5.43 as former company commander of 3./G.R."GD", this ID has IMO some interesting points :
- the detailed list of all functions and Units(page 21)
- the VERY EARLY GWB attribution (15.9.42) for 5 differents Wounds with precise description on page 34
Feel free to comment. I tried shortly before X-Mas entering contact with the Family, unfortunately no answer received now.
There is a bunch of advanced collector from the GD-Division over there, I know 2 or 3 have some breathtaking collection, but don't know them in person.... It would be an extraordinary addition to get a good scan of captain Z. wearing its GD-Uniform. Any Help in this matter would be unvaluable ! Thank you. L.
