    SS ring...Meine ehre heißt treue..

Hello to all the people of the Forum,

This is my first post and I want introduce myself. My name is Marco and my job is to publish books in Italian on the Third Reich (no, no I don't make spam ). I'm also interested in collect objects of the period, but compared to many others I have fex experience.

Here is my first post on a ring that I bought in a major auction house in Germany.
I enclose a picture of the object as it appeared and it was impossible to see - in the catalogue - some characteristic signs or anything.
Only once in my possession I saw inside and a logo D.R.G.M. is the symbol SS.
I immediately did some research and saw that many indicate the presence of these signs as a fake.
I wrote to the auction house and the answer was before:
"It is a contemporary ring That could be acquired in the trade. D G R M stands for "Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster" and means the German Design Protection "and the second one," this item is not modern reproductions. The mark D.R.G.M. was used from 1891 until 1945. So the description is correct and you are right not to declare it as modern piece. "

Well, now I'm a little confused and wonder if anyone is in possession of more information.

    Thank you in advance!

And I apologize for my english!

    Marco

Hi Marco and welcome to the Forum. Sorry to say that this ring is indeed a fake, a commonly made copy. Hope you did not pay too much for it.

Plus : " Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster " is indeed a design protection .
I would not think anyone could try to patent the runes design ?!

First of all, thanks to everybody for the answers to my post!
It was very kind for your sides to reply so soon at my first post!

Well, so I have taken a fake from an auction hause.
This make fell me so bad, because I think to all people to whom that can happen the same.
If someone know a reference book about this subject (SS rings) or in which way I can obtain more details, it will be really appreciated. Because I don't hide that I should pay more than that ring to move an action against the auction hause.

                However, again....thanks!!!
                Marco

I feel sorry for you Marco, but we have all been there - collecting 3.reich items is a mine field.

                          Welcome!
Do not feel bad- anyone that collects SS. that says they have never bought a fake is either lying to you or to themselves.

There are many good book out there, but the forum here and the "search" function can be your online library! They show more details here and stay up on current fakes that books can't keep up with.

Also you can buy here on the e-stand where things are guaranteed to be real!
