    Greyhound - Tom Hanks Film

Due for release in a few months time is the Tom Hanks film Greyhound which is based on the C.S. Forester novel 'The Good Shepherd' and tells the story of a USN captain who has to escort a convoy through U-Boat infested waters. Also starts Stephen Graham.

    Looks good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pNgAZVrf40

I have hope for this film as it doesn't look like another one of those "ra-ra-America!" films (Fury, Midway, etc.), even though I did pick up a lot of the dreaded CGI in the trailers.

While it looks suspenseful, it looks terribly inaccurate from the trailer. Although, trailer scenes usually get quite a bit of editing before they come to the theater, so I am optimistic.

“Greyhound, good luck surviving the night” .... in English! (but with Hans Gruber German accent)

        I’ll pass

It is based on a novel not real life so liberties are probably taken to build up suspense. The 'based on a true story' line probably refers broadly to that there were convoy battles in WW2.

As interested as I am in seeing this film, in this day and age movie trailers often play out better than the films. I'll be seeing this in the theater for sure.

It does look comic book, sadly not one of Tom's best.

Gee, is a person not permitted to have an opinion here? My comment has nothing at all to do with the “build up of suspense.” If you actually read / comprehended my post, you might have understood that. If you like it, go see it. I, on the other hand, will not.

I was hoping that since Tom Hanks is in it we might end up with a good film (just based on the mind-set that a big budget to get him might give it a chance), but based on that trailer, I am already cringing and having several issues with it.

Still I am sure I will probably go see it on the big screen when it comes out, and will hope for the best.

Looking forward to see the movie. Will base opinion on the movie, not the trailer. Could be a good movie for entertainment (since that's why movies are made - not to be 100% accurate in every detail of a uniform etc, just pure entertainment ).

It is the role in which Tom Hanks would excel, the movie - not sure itis one which I would go for.

Guys, what’s not to look forward to?

Tom Hanks of Saving Private Ryan and executive producer of Band of Brothers is starring in a new WWII film.
The high seas is not my main interest of the War but I’ll be going to watch it without a doubt.

I’m not sure how they could make a film like this without GGI but special effects have been part of films since Nosferatu!

I think Tom Hanks is a class act and one of the best actors on and off the screen of this generation.

I can't speak to the movie but C.S Forester naval books are among the best IMO.

Don't know the release date but it has now been snaffelled up by the Apple+ streaming service so only people with that will be able to watch it. Not surprising really considering they have also got the rights to his 8th Air Force drama series.
