    DAK cap for opinions

I was asked to post more pics for opinions. I looked on the site listing all the cap makers and guessed H.Schade, Kassel was the maker because I can read H Sch Kasse 58 on the inside stamp, but it is not entirely clear or complete. The cap is one of 2 in a collection I acquired 25 years ago from the widow of a man working with Military Intelligence designing clothing and equipment for the US mountain Troops. The other cap had a tag on it referring to both caps. Tag is shown. The other cap was a triangle eagle, not a cutout and was also unissued and has been sold. Thanks for any opinions or information.

And a capture tag too? it doesn't get any better than that.

Well it would, if it had been used.

Still a nice cap though if you like minty.

The joint combo with rag and cap makes this a very special piece.

Great cap, congrats! Can you confirm that there are two different colored lines of stitching around the bottom of the cap?

I have not previously been 100% convinced by tropical peaked caps with this stamp and the manufacturer name, H Schade Kassel, is not on my published list of tropical peaked cap manufacturers but this one certainly looks authentic to me. Thanks for posting it.
A very similar cap—written off as a fake—can be seen here

                    Stitching

Definitely has 2 rows of different color stitching at the bottom. I was alerted to the other cap (deemed fake) by another member, and it may have been, but this one seems legit and I have had it for 25 years, and it came in a collection with a Luftwaffe Bergmutze Enlisted cap (single button) Carl Bangert , Koblenz, 1942, size 58 1/2, a M43 Mountain Trooper/Officer Field Cap, size 56 (2 buttons), and a M40 DAK Field Cap, triangle eagle, (Tropenfeldmütze mit schirm) Rudolf Broer (?) 1943, size 57. 4 distinct caps collected by the same man working for Military intelligence.

The quality of making and stamping is quite different on the repro cap presented in this thread .

                        The other DAK cap

Here are both caps together, and the tag attached to the triangle eagle one.

No they look to be made by the same maker. The challenge with the cap linked and referred to in post number 9 by member Lodsworth, is the quality of the images.

If NatS could add an image of the underside of the visor to see if it has the same two lines of stitching in the same position that would be a real help.

Based on limited images from two threads at this stage, the two caps would appear to share common manufacturer footprints from that maker,

                              Chris
