    Original axe .
    Strange marking ?
Usually done on the wood , not on the metal ?

The GJ100 marking is very "funky". Never seen that . Added to enhance the axe imo.J

Thanks for your comments. OK the marking in the metal is suspicious.
By the way, I found another sample with "GJR.99" marking in the metal

Both fonts look very similar so done by the same dealer?

Thank you for all comments. Basically unit name stamping was done pre-war but army prohibited to mark when the war broken out due to counterespionage so many stamped items were removed from field. (Of course, it was impossible to remove 100% especially for personal belongings and still remained)
That's why unit name stamping are only be seen in pre-war or early war issued items and most of them found nowadays were captured beginning of the war or stored till end of war.
As for ice axe, Gebirgsjäger units normally used many civilian models with Stubai or Fulpmes and there was necessity to mark as army property. It's easy to remove marking in the wood so reasonable to mark into iron IMO. As known well, many dealers put WaA eagle, "SS" or unit name and artificially aged to add value post war so I understood we think they are "suspicious" as a first impression. We need to check how the marking is sitting in the base carefully.
Although GJR 100 marking looks "fantasy" and not valuable in the market, I love to own this ice axe even at 1% possibility.

              Thanks!

and it has something like waffenamt but it is only "eagle with svastika" and under it is written "Mchn 1"
