Help needed with named Tornister fur pack.

I need some help with a named Fur Pack Tornister that I just picked up. It's named to a REZ /FELDW OTTO BECK N1743/34S MAR. FESTG. BATL. 359. Am I correct in assuming that Otto Beck was assigned to a coastal art. unit? Can anyone come up with the order of battle of this unit and what happened to Otto Beck? Thanks in advance.

Actulay Marine Festugs Batalione were sort of last resrves ; a sailors used as infantry men. So not exacly Coastal Artillery but Infantry unit consisted from ex sailors .

Marine Festungs Batalion 359 - you can read about this unit on lexikon der wehrmacht ( http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...Gliederung.htm.

Not too but much still something.

If you are not family member that it woould be hard to find out in german archives what happen with this particular sailor ( infantry men ).

Thank You.... I looked it up and it says the unit was formed in November 1944. Probably sailors re-deployed as infantry in the defense of Germany. The Tornister is dated 1943. An interesting part of history.

I looked up Festungs in the dictionary; it translates to fortress, that's why I thought that it could be Atlantic Wall related, but now I see that it's not. I still find it interesting. It would be interesting to know what happened to Otto Beck. P.O.W or KIA ?
