    Panzer/Baupioneer/Artillerie/Sturmgeschutz ear clocks

    Hi Guys!

Take a look at this! I have asked several collectors about the use and by whom this pair of ear clocks was used. I have received same amount of different answer`s as collectors I have asked. The shape of the clocks makes it possible to be used with steel helmet, and the elastic rubber bands easy to use all kind of headgear. The clocks can me mounted of the band while being used. inside the clocks the three letter code: egx and production serial number is stamped. Do anyone seen this photographed in war-time photos?

    Regards
    Carl

Im thought the word head phones where used when sound or speaker system is involved. This item is only meant to keep noice and sound out. Learning every day

They're not headphones, they're ear protectors, to protect from loud noise such as small arms fire etc.
The ones I used years ago were fitted with an adjustable plastic headband rather than a harness, they were nicknamed "Amplivox", that being the name of one of the manufacturers of thes things.

But still there are no one who have seen this ear protectors photographed or mention in any books? To make one thing clear: They are German WWII manufactured, and with three letter code indicating Military issue. Anyone

                        "Ear Clocks"

Carl, here is a link to a rare color photo of a crewmwmber (1st from left) of a light infantry gun (type??) on the Oderfront in 1945. You will notice that he is wearing the ear protection over his netted helmet, an appropriate piece of equipment in his line of work. Also take a look at the other color pictures on this website, some great color shots of late war StuG assault guns and late war Landser as well......
