    cans

Jerry cans for water are used for water, drinking, washing, filling your radiator, whatever you need water for, just as they are today, as anyone else who has experienced the joys of having to drink, wash or fill their radiators from jerry cans will tell you.

ps 5l ? 5 litres? that is not a Jerry can, 5 litres is only 10 pints!

    cheers, Rik

      Hi Adam,

I have a 20L size can that's simply labeled 'Wasser' with the painted white cross to distinguish it from a fuel can, but there is nothing that specifies for what purposes the water should be used. You're correct, there are also 5L aluminum bottles that are specifically labeled 'Trinkwasser' (drinking water) so it would seem that the distinction meant that while the larger size could be used for any sort of water, the smaller size was not for any other use than drinking water. Of course in reality, I would think that such distinctions weren't strictly adhered to, and that the only 'rule' that was followed was that fuel should not put into water cans and water should not put into fuel cans.
