My new '43 dated mess tin

hey Guys, its Glenn. just wanted to show you all My new tin I got yesterday form a fellow on Ebay. I pulled some strings and He agreed to end the auction early. I am glad He did. it is the later war style with red primer thoughout and the "other" style handle brackets. it retains almost all of its greenish paint with only a few minor scratches and wear areas from the strap. it has the owners initials scratched on the lower half in the front (under the handle area) and on the reverse. "M.H." it is maker marked on the top front handle and on one of the handle brackets. it is maker marked "WJ43". if anyone knows this makers mark please let me know as I am a stickler on markings and would love to know the manufacturer. one less piece needed for the "G mannequin". (oh, He's gettin' close) Glenn

Good find Glenn. Messkits & canteens in 43 and 44 are odd. Obviously some had better access to aluminum than others, because I have a 44 dated aluminum messkit and steel and aluminum canteens.

thanks Guys. I'm very happy with it. the last couple ones I saw of this style and condition (dated '43, thats all I collect) went for alot. the last one went for over $210.00. so when the Guy said He'd sell it for $85.00 to include shipping I said, "right on Brother". I like the red primer on tins. just My personal preference. Glenn
