Color Heer Kartentasche

Hello,

I have a question regarding my Kartentasche. I've got a brown one, dated 1938, wich is an original. I was wondering about the color it should have. I recall reading somewhere that the Luftwaffe used brown leather Kartentaschen and Heer used black ones. Is this true? I want to use it to complete my 1940 Heer Feldwebel.
Hope someone can help me out.

it is a so called "Deckungswinkelmesser". To measure the angle of clearance.
