What is "Sharf." supposed to mean?
Probably "Scha" or "Scharf." for "Scharführer". Added by a non German speaking person....

Too modern writing, in this period this should be written in sütterlin, and I agree with screensize "Added by a non German speaking person...."

But the packtasche it self is nice with good marking
