A true IMO "DAK" gaz mask carnister

Here is what I think to be a true DAK painted gaz mask carnister. It is not overpainted in tan as often seen in Italy or France but rather in "warm" khaki as often seen on DAK helmets. The mask itself is dated 41 and the carnister is dated 1940. I could be wrong but anyways, I love it !

It got some age so it looks good, but be carefull. Civil defence and other just post-war organisations used these and often painted them in bright colors. The long strap also looks post war.

Always difficult with these things, I once bought a bright green cannister. Also old and used, but turns out to be a late 40's dutch civil defence re-used can.

              best regards! Sven

I agree with Sven, be careful. Camo is definately old but I don't have a 'DAK feeling' with it. I could be wrong. Post some pics of the straps. Since the canister is painted isn't it strange the drawing strap doesnt have any tan paint spots?! Strap Added later ? Also the number '62' on canister and mask isn't convincing...
Maybe I'm wrong, just a feeling.
Looking forward what others had to say.

                  Thanks guys
Whoaw !! It's just reminding me why I hesitate so many times to post something here...
And congratulations for guessing my straps are post-war and the "62" is not period with my pics. Because if it was me, I'll be not able to do it.
Of course the long strap is periode and the buckle is alu made. There is some remind of khaki paint beside the opening strap.
Svenpanzer, you are absolutly right to say that civil defense used them with bright colors. Maybe mine is one of them....I only can say that its color is the same than the color often seen on WH or FJ helmets which were in Africa. But I have no proof that either it is a DAK painted carnister or a civil devence one. Just because they are in both situations 70 years old.
                  Many thanks for your opinions

Nice pictures, the long strap is 100% original. You can see the problem with lighting in pictures, it's just a bit off and things look different.

But I just gave an opinion, let's hear what other more experienced collectors have to say. I only have 18 complete sets......

                      best regards Sven

Good pics. Straps are indeed 100% Original. Although the colour is quite bright, its a nice canister
