      Hi Jacob,

sorry to go against my good friend Mikey but these boots are definitely of WW2 vintage....problem is they are cold weather boots that were issued to Deutsches Reichsbahn personnel only, namely locomotive crews and other people who worked in stations and marshalling yards as repair crews and such...in this case these boots come from a Nurnberg depot!
They were sometimes used by troops as well, but are not WH-issue, even if the CROOKS AT H.S.C. COLLECTIONS used to sell them as "Rare WSS Winter Boots for Tank Crews" a few yers back!
      Hope that helps!
      Manny
      P.S.;nice, 2343% complete(see heels beschlag!) pair !

manny, i have a pair marked Rbd, do you know what depot they would have come from?? i was always under the assumption that these were heer issue boots, so these were issued solely to reichsbahn workers? thats a bummer, also do you know what these are worth?

                  Hi,
I'm sorry buddy, but I cannot help you I'm afraid, even if in this case "Rbd"could well mean "Reichsbahnsomething"!
These boots are not WH-issue even if they had been used by fighting soldiers as well and they're patterned after the WH ones(or the other way round for that matters!).I cannot tell anything about their value I'm afraid, since I've never bought a pair of these boots and since they're not strictly Heer they've never really drawn my attention. If you search a bit on eBay Deutschland you'll find them auctioned quite often(please remember that they were produced after the war as well...without the small leather tab!)at very reasonable prices!
I wouldn't call it a bummer, in that they remain period "Kommis" footwear that could look the part on a Heer or WSS mannequin, providing,of course, you won't pay a lot of cashola for them!
                  Hope that helps
                  Manny

Somebody help me and post my pictures again..pulleeeze!

                      Thanks
I bought them years ago on the militariaweb for 50euro i think.
So no big los, as long as they are ww2 period.
To me i looks like the boots pictured on page 32,33 and 95 in the book Deutsche Uniformen 1939-45 by Jean de Lagarde.

                      /Jacob

                        Hi Jacob,
this book is a collection of articles featured on old Militaria Magazine's issues which are full of questionable items sold by the crooks at H.S.C. and JDG is one of them...nuff zed!
