East german breadbag, How do spot?

Well easy question but important, how do I see the difference between a postwar (East/west) german breadbag and a ww2 issue, is there any simple ways or so?

    Best regards:

Well, I DO know of a few. Wartime breadbags would've been of either a greenish, olive, tan or khaki colour, while Bundeswehr breadbags would be slate-grey, divided down the inside middle into two sections, and I'm not sure if they have a pocket for rifle-cleaning kit inside, which the wartime breadbags did. Wartime German breadbags would be of a single compartment inside. Otherwise, they're pretty much identical. I'd only found this out a few weeks ago at a militaria fair, where a dealer showed me the difference between a postwar and wartime models. I THINK wartime breadbags were coarser. And of course, Bundeswehr breadbags would be much cheaper, about AUD$60 (About 40 euros), but of course some unscrupulous dealers would sell them as wartime ones.
      Cheers,
      Jeremy

Thanks Mr Chan, but did all the ww2 issue breadbags have rifile cleaning pockets?
I thought it only was the m44 that had.

          Hi Lasse,

I have a wartime breadbag and it has NO rifle cleaning pocket.
          Cheers,
          Junior.

            Hi Lasse,
I found this picture on an old thread a few minutes ago, it's an M44, photo credits: Kuligow.
            Cheers,

                Lasse,

East german breadbags are made from a flimsy material and are come in various shades of grey. Some use a thin artificial leather that feels like plastic.

As mentioned above the BGS and BUNDESWEHR bags are of better quality. They do have the separation inside the bag as stated above. Most of the bags I've handled were made from a tightly woven duck material.

I'm sure there are other differences.

                Jim

                  Lasse,
Apologies. Certain functions were deleted from the late-war breadbags, as stated above, the deletion of the rifle-cleaning kit pouch, the belt hook on the top-middle (replaced by a simple loop) and the two button-on belt tabs at the tops corners, replaced by simple loops too. I don't think postwar breadbags from boths Germanys had such 'defects'.
                  Cheers,
                  Jeremy C

about my M44 breadbag brought here by Junior - it's missing the middle loop - it was removed at some time...

my first look at post war breadbags is that they have more rounded than trapezoidal shape.. they have different color.. and they have 2 sections inside - ww2 have only 1 section !

                    check also this one:

you have two police bradbags there - thay are same construction like army - just different color

                    ciao

The front strap loops on post war bags are wider than ww2 bags as well.
