Backstrap is original, placed on an earlier pair of Y-Straps.

btw, what do mean with earlier set m1steelpot?... to be honest, i think its a rather late set... (stitching, hooks etc)

I´m soory guys,

but I don´t like the back strap. IMO it is made from old leather - look fresh edges... Minimum it is a new stiched. Wire hook is sure ok.

look at the holes on leather - leather from eqp. strap ?

Woops, didn't see the stitching near the rivets. Agreed, it's a later set. For some reason I didn't notice that.

I do like the backstrap though. Wish I could find something like that in reproduction form.

I want to thank everyone for your comments. I'm still not sure what to think about the backstrap. Seems it could be an original WWII piece. But there are some of you that think otherwise. Any other thoughts? Thanks again for looking!
