    Flakvisier ID please..

    Hello,
I found this while digging today, but I have no idea what gun it would be used for..
    All help appreciated!

The dial reads "Erdschuss hm" in addition to "tiefer - höher"
The sign says Flakvi??????, probably Flakvisier, Bauart C Zeiss 0681, 1938, Siemens.

    See pics:

It has to be a gun sight I guess.

Please edit your first two images- they're so monsterously big that I can't even look at them properly. Anything bigger than 1124x768 is much too big. Regrettably, the portion of the data plate that would give the information you need is gone, and therefore a managable image of the sight itself is the only way to go- if you edit your first post, it would help a lot

Apologies to the original poster for resizing the images...but this may help others to identify the object easier .

Thanks Patrick for the changes in size!

I am wondering if it is part of the aiming-telescope for the Flak 18/37/41 88mm gun???
But I have not seen any close-up pics of these anywhere..
Where I found it, there were other parts which could be for the 88mm series of guns, but also identified parts for the PAK-40.

                  Yepp!
But just for like 10 minutes.
Had to pick up something for Mikke and decided to dig a little in the other place.. ;-)

                    Got it!

It's part of a Flakvisier 36 for the 3.7cm Flak 36. The hand wheel i have could also be from the same weapon type

Now let's go find the rest of the gun!

                      It sure is similar!

                      But some differences as well:
-One adjustment wheel (horisontal) is much longer in the base than the one I found.
-The vertical adjustment wheel on your pic is sitting in a "depression". No sign of that on mine.
-The mounting bracket would sit on the aft if I was to mount it like in the 37mm pics. Somehow I find that wrong.

My elevation wheel does not go beyond 45 degrees, so I believe it to be for PAK use only. This sight cannot cope with elevations above 45 deg mechanically..

So I am still not 100% sure....
