    M31 Feldflasche beauty

Hi everyone! This great field bottle (is it Afrika Korps with this web straps?) came in the mail today, and I wanted to share it with you. It’s in great condition and to my surprise, a web DAK koppelschlauf was still attached to the hook. Everything looks good to me, but I wonder if the metal cram between the buttons is common? And opinions on the authenticity of the koppelschlauf would be very appreciated.

Wouldnt say DAK actually. Its a very nice looking Tropical or Sudfront Feldflasche. The D loop looks OK as well.

there is not such a thing like DAK canteens...thats a public myth...the canteens in africa were the normal europe M31 ones...maybe with some tan overpainted canteen cups some times. i have seen your canteen in tynisia 1943-it is 100% correct for late africa but this does'nt make it necessarily african

imo it isnt a myth, ak canteens existed.
youll find relevant threads and wisdom here on waf, large capacity bottles, covered with a greenish brown felt, bak cups, 41 dated, web strapping, were luft afrika issued, certainly...
we seem to think coconuts were not ak. that i believe. i believe them to be a sud front/general upgrade of the regular water bottle. many used in normandy by wss, etc...
so ak bottles do exist, its size and felt colour imo (and date) distinguished.

Thanks to all, I have learned something again! Glad the web Koppelschlauf is good too. I still wonder what the metal cram is meant for though..
