Not a Wehrmacht pack and most likely a civilian item, in my opinion.

        Thanks Chris,
just will stress this one a little more: The rücksack have been into the norwegin armys support service: There is/was no reason to get civilian stuff there for obvious reasons. Than, if you look at the center top of the rücksack, one will find a identical (IMHO) "pin" as found on f.inst. the MP 40 Pouches. Just my 2 cents... T.

Those "pins" or "studs" used on Wehrmacht equipment were made of aluminum or steel, the one on the pack appears to be made of brass. Perhaps the pack is not German at all.

            Chris,
just brushed the pin, it's like you said - made of brass. The q. from now on is perhaps not if the rücksack is of german origin, but weather it is functional in climbing mountains... (Than the rücksack has nothing to do on this forum..)...

Just want to add one thing: Regular civilian companies make those kind of stuff normally better than mass productive companies' goods, as if the rücksack was made for WH. (I would bring my own one;-))

            Best Regards, Thormod

Its a Rucksack - no "Umlaut".

Maybee its WWI, back then lots of brass was used on military items.

                Grüß Di' Thormod,

Looks like you have a typical "Bergen" style rucksack...either Norwegian or maybe French. Do you have any photos of the frame and shoulder straps?

                Berg Heil,

                Patrick
