    Mounted riders medical pouch?

    Hello,

I was wondering if this is a so called mounted riders medical pouch. Found as such. Nice Wa stamped and production site dated. Almost mint condition.

Apparently complete with original contents. On the front marked with an 'S'. I suppose for 'Sanitaeter'.

Do these bags come normally with a carrying strap? Or are thse attached to the horse's saddle?

    Regards

Nice complete pouch - but not for mounted personal.

              Thanks for the response.

But if not for mounted personal, what then? I have never seen these in period pictures.

What's the use of the side strap? Should this be attached to the belt?

              Thx

Its a pouch for "Krankenträger" (stretcher bearers) - dont know what the meaning of the small strap is, but I guess simple to fix at the belt. It comes with a long carriing strap. So I guess you decide (depending on other gear you wear) on what size you wear the pouch, and therefore the small strap (which BTW does not have to go through the D-ring like shown) is movable.

Indeed, not the same pouch at all! Thx.

But what is this then? Does not look like a regular medical pouch either. Must be some piece of regular medical field equipment. But for whom? Doctors? Or an improved late war version?

                    Regards

Reading my reply in post # 9 might help...

I would suggest it was for a Sanitater given the "S" stamping on the case.

Agree with Bauer. K = Krankentraeger (Stretcherbearer) and S=Sanitaets (Medical personnel).

IMO this looks like large hang-on medical pouch for 'Sanitaeter' without its belt.

It is issue medical bag for prescribed for Sanitater and Krankentrager ( diversified by content not external shape, obviously yours is for 'Sani' ) . This pattern has been introduced during the war and it is successor of two pouches, with very similar content, worn on belt. Some collectors call this pattern 'M42' but I didn't find any confirmation yet ( I heard that earliest example has been dated 1939).

Your example is very nice but incomplete:- leather carring strap and most of genuine content is missing. I believe that most of items which You shown were add as 'filler' to increase sell price...Flag which You shown together with the bag looks like fake.

So does this mean the two front pouches where abolished and replaced by only this larger one? Or is this larger one extra to them?
any photo's of this pouch in wear? Please post!
