Hello just like to show this standard mess tin i found in the summer in a flea fair in the uk .BUT WITH A TWIST .

Interesting, the initials are "AM" correct? I knew a man from Latvia that had been in the Latvian Army, then forced to serve in the Red Army, then captured by the Germans and served in the Waffen SS. His name was Ansis Maurins, I know it would be a stretch but that may have been his mess kit.

Almost every mess tin i find (dig up) has at least the initials of the owner scratched or engraved in it.

Yup, I have some in my collection with multiple names and initials scratched into them, one actually has names scratched out and a new name scratched in.
