Tent rope - Original WW2 or post?

    Hi friends,
it's just a rope, but i'd like to know if original WW2 or not. I found it wrapped around a bunch of original tent poles and pins. Urban legends say it should be 2 meters long, mine one is only 1,5 m. I think there is a bit of confusion...Could you enlight me?

    Hi Alex

According to H.Dv. 205/1 the rope has to be aprox 2 metres, but I have seen them in different lengths (from 1,5 - 2,5) at least in what I believe to be original ropes.....
Also the original rope has to be black, but I have seen more natural coloured ropes then black ones.....

    Not much help here... sorry

Both black (tainted) as well as natural coloured ropes are correct. Also the lenght can vary.
When you twist the black ropes, the inner threads should be natural coloured too.
Also the ends are braided into a loop (ends are braided into the running thread of the rope).

      Greetings,

      Lucius

That is a correct observation, here on this black cord is the natural color visible,

Sizes and color can indeed vary, these are the most common colors,

To me it looks like an early DDR NVA one before they swithed to Plastic.
Also the Lenght of 1.5m matches.
Takes a while before I come to my Storage, but then I'll take a Pic as I must have some left.

Hello Nico, surely you mean the one that started the thread?

Jan's examples all seem correct to me.

I can see that there's difference, but the first one also seems correct.

Sure I meant the first one.

I just measured these three ropes and all are, a few cm less or more, 2 meter long.

....so my rope would be NVA...
Honestly, i never have seen the NVA tent set. Would be interesting to study it...

Was in my storage but forgot them there as I was in a Hurry. But not forgotten. I think I also have some of the early bakelite Stakes and old Poles.
