P08 Luger holster, its missing the tool holder

Hello, just bought this in "near mint" condition P08 holster but the leatehr tool holder at the inside is missing. Does anyone know if this was done on a regular base? In my opinion normally these leather tool holders allways were sewn in these holsters.

Isn't it a P38 harg holster ? that might explain the missing loading tool pocket.

What is a P38 harg? A bit stupid maybe but I am no gun specialist.

            Think he meant "hard" holster.
But it is a Luger holster. Big difference.
Never saw pouches removed on a "regular basis" but it happens.

A lot of leather treatment has been slopped on this one.

The earliest P38-holsters look almost identical to P08-ones

No traces of a "removed" tool-pouch - and why should it? The P-08 needs that tool, always.

                  Holster

So, I can conclude this is a hard shell P38 holster. The P38 did not have that tool?

May be a KNIL-holster (Koninklijk Nederlandsch Indisch Leger / Army of the Royal Netherlands Indies)? The ligth-brown Backside can be declared this way, and the strange WaA-inscription...

Why the tool-attachment is missing? Who knows. I think for the KNIL it should be there.

                    Regards, Kees

If it is an early holster, should it have the early type Eagle stamp?

It is difficult to determine if a P38 magazine would fit in the pouch on the side. Do you have one to see if it fits? It looks nothing like a hardshell P38 holster, either military or commercial style like the Swedish and police issue. I do not care for the WaA stamp, as the outline of the stamp head is clearly visible and there is neither a manufacturer name or code.

But commercial holsters for the P08 in 7.65 mm Parabellum were produced and sold my such retailers as Geco and Akah. Although this holster does not bear an Akah stamp, I would not rule out a commercial issue from the late 1920s or early 1930s. And the tools were military issue, not commercial.

So perhaps someone embellished an older commercial holster into a military issue for more money.
