Hello fellow collectors, went to Beltring last week searching for a cup (plus other items ) to go with my 45 dated canteen pleased to find a 44 dated cup for sale on its own. Would be nice to find a matching dated cup but this 44 cup is close enough for now. Regards David.

I have the same problem. A minty smm45 canteen with a matched condition smm44 steel cup. That's the closest I have been able to get. It would be great to find a matched 45 dated cup though!

Hi Giancarlo and Ed,thats a coincidence with our canteens year and maker wise,quite lucky to get the late cup but would be nice to get the cup with the matching 45 date. I wonder how many 45 cups there are around. Must check out the canteen thread. Cheers David.

SMM45 canteen.

Hi fellow members of the SMM45 gang!
I know all about David's canteen.
Coincidentally Ed, my SMM45 bottle came with an SMM44 cup also. I've since fitted a better-condition strap assembly but it was interesting that it (and David's) came with the earlier felt cover. You'd've thought the thin 3-stud cover would have been the norm by then but I have no reason to doubt it.

SMM45 Canteen

I have one of these SMM45 canteens with the SMM44 cup as well and the four snaps, I’ve had several over the years in various conditions, all had the 44 dated cup, I wonder if even a 45 cup was produced.
BTW nice canteen.

I have seen an smm45 cup, but only one and it was not on an smm45 canteen, and it sold before I could buy it. I have a similar smm45 canteen with smm44 cup.

Hi Ed,
That's the way I hoped my canteen would have been but it came with a four-stud felt cover (as on Hans Zeug's) and the strap that is pictured on his.
I later fitted an unissued strap and the whole ensemble now looks better, but I wish it had all been in the condition of yours.
