            Hi Terry,
from"Das Pons Worterbuch":Begegnen; 1)to meet or 2)to prevent or 3)to happen :"so etw ist mir noch nicht begegnet"="Such a thing has never happened to me".Begegnung; MEETING.
Beginning translates with "Beginn"or"Anfang"...at least, that's what one of the most trusted German dictionaries say!
In this case I'm pretty sure you're way far from being right and if you are,well....I'll auction the"Trusted Dictionary"on eBay as"Rare, deceiving German Worterbuch!" !
            Keep safe

              Hi Manny,

Of course you and the dictionary are correct. I guess I needed to wake up this morning, and grab my dictionary. It is about 2 feet in front of my head.

I never really thought about footwear from WW2 and now I will be on the lookout for a pair of those...

25 dollars a year is a drop in the bucket for the level of expertise that you see in these forums and also the wealth of information that you can find on practically everything releated to WW2 items/artifacts. I LOVE this place and thanks to everyone for sharing there knowledge!!

                  Hi
                  Manuel,Alexandre,Jim and James.
I am so thrilled to find serious discussion about military footwear.I also collect boots.I hope you are all are still around and that I have not missed out on a learning opportunity.
I am going to keep this post short, but I would like to know about conservation of these old boots. My boots are drying out and I worry about the wood pegging in the soles.Should I oil the soles or dampen them?
I am new here so I still have not found any other thread dedicated to Axis footwear, has the interest died out?

Hi Werner !! and welcome to the forum !!!

Manny is not here with us anymore - so unfortunataly we have lost a boots "guru" but there is still few good people around

about leather treatment on boots - I use a Peckard antique leather treatment - its good - its not darkeining leather.. - but keep's it alive - good product
