What model of low boots are these? They appear similar to GJ boots but not quite, or maybe a late war type. Are they even German? I can't see any visible markings anywhere but they may have worn off.

Sorry you have wrong!
This is a pair of model 1929 boots for the Alpini (mountain troops).
Were frequently used by the Germans during WW2.

Luca, thank you very much for the wonderful information you have provided in this thread. Would you be able to post any additional images from the FJ photo album? As I have been working on a FJ setup to represent the campaign in Italy circa 1943 it's nice to know these boots would have been worn by them at this time.Comment

ive noticed these distinctive toe capped boots on fair stands in the distant past, billed as late war wehrmacht boots. was i merely seeing these italian ones inventively described, or were there wehrmacht issue/originated ankle boots with the self same toe cap? kind regardsComment
