    Help with some horse equipment

    Greetings all,

A few years ago I picked up a M-25 saddle for my collection (not complete) and there were 2 loose straps with them that I've not been able to fully ID, so I was wondering if someone can tell me what the heck they are.

One piece looks like it would have gone for use with a Quarter Horse on it's hind end for pulling a wagon at least from some photos I've been able to see. It' is marked with I belive the letters ddc or dde 43 and has the WaA Eagle, the Y shaped strap has a partial circural marking but unable to make it out.

I don't belive these go with the saddle set up since I can't find anything in photos or inthe books I have to show it.

Also I'm not a collector of Cavalry items I just always wanted a saddle set up.

Again any help would be great.

    Thanks

    Joe

      Joe,

I ran across this site a few weeks ago. It takes forever to load but there's some fine photos of horse gear, including some nice photos of wagon harnesses. Some of the photos you can click on and they will enlarge:

        Hello max brunn 1938.

I have a copy of an original H.Dv.476/2 in my possesion.

these items you have schown here are being used for a harnes to pull carts and wagons.

There just some parts of a whole set.

        the corect name is Sielengeschirr.

In the first pic you see a :hintenzeug.
That's the part that conects the sadle whit the backpart that hangs over the horse's ass called a umgang.
Its the oppesit of the front piece that comes over the horse's breast called the burstblatt.

In the second pic you see the y shaped belt that's called verbindungsriemen,
its a belt that conect's the hintenzeug whit the ramliften.
Its used when there's no sadle on top of the horse so they need tis belt to conect the backside of the sielengeschir to the front over the back of the horse.

If i'am correct ther are two diferrent lengts in these verbindungsriemen.

I hope this make's you a litte sens to you.
Sorry if my englisch is not perfect.

        Many regards david dp

Thanks David, I'll check it out.... Still from what I've been able to see and find out is these go for use with systems used for pulling and not for use with the saddle system so I guess at some point in time I'll put them up on e stand.

            Thanks

            Joe
